Jets Defeat Browns 17-12

Braelon Allen’s 22-yard touchdown run with 3:01 remaining in the fourth quarter put the New York Jets ahead of the Cleveland Browns in an eventual 17-12 win.

Allen’s rush was the longest of his career, five games into his third NFL season. The score was also the first rushing TD that Cleveland’s defense has allowed this year. Allen finished with 116 yards on 24 carries.

The Jets were in position for the go-ahead score after Browns punter Corey Bojorquez fumbled a snap on a punt attempt from their 42-yard line amid rainy conditions in New Jersey. The 19-yard loss gave the Jets the ball at the Cleveland 23, putting them in field goal position following the turnover.

Bojorquez’s fumble came after the Browns failed to capitalize on an opportunity to add to a two-point lead when Carson Schwesinger sacked Jets quarterback Geno Smith and caused a fumble. Adin Huntington recovered for Cleveland at the New York 48-yard line. But the Browns went three-and-out with Deshaun Watson throwing two incomplete passes, leading to the pivotal punt attempt.
